Introducing NATMAP RASTER 250k![]() NATMAP Raster 250K Mapsheets provides georeferenced digital images of Geoscience Australia's 1:250 000 scale national maps covering the whole of Australia. Each map image is rectified to MGA94 coordinates to enable the measurement of distances and areas. The product is ideal to use anywhere a large number of maps is required, or where storage is limited. By replacing 518 maps with just two CDs, the maps are conveniently accessible, compact to store and the images will not wear out. NATMAP Raster 250K contains viewing software needed to use the maps on the Windows 95/98/2000/NT4/Me/XP platform - all you need is Internet Explorer 5.5.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------About NATMAP Raster 250K Mapsheets 2002 Map Images The images are in 24-bit colour and have a resolution of 200dpi (equivalent to 32m). Most map images cover a grid of one degree of latitude by one and a half degrees of longitude (approximately 110km x 130km). Some extended sheets cover larger areas, whilst map insets are stored as separately georeferenced images. All of the new NATMAPs published up to 30 June 2002 are included on the 2002 version of NATMAP Raster 250K Mapsheets. Each map image is supplied with all surrounding map information including legend, scale bar, and technical information about the map and its projection. The images are georeferenced to the Map Grid of Australia (MGA); however the user can choose to display coordinates in MGA, AMG and latitude/longitude, on either the GDA or older AGD datums. Selecting Images NATMAP Raster 250K Mapsheets comes with map viewing software called RASTER VIEWER. The RASTER VIEWER software allows the user to select maps from the zoomable map index, the list of map numbers, the list of map names, the Gazetteer of Australia, by latitude and longitude, or MGA grid coordinates. Viewing, Printing and Exporting Images RASTER VIEWER allows you to zoom and pan on the maps when you roam off a sheet, the map roamer allows you to follow a feature across map sheets, by loading the neighbouring map at the map view scale and correct location. You can print the whole map or the currently displayed area, in which case the coordinates of the top left and bottom right of the area and a scale bar are also printed. It is easy to export the map to GeoTIFF, PNG, JPEG or BMP using the export option. Again you can select either the whole map or the currently displayed area. The GeoTIFF option keeps all of the geographical information for the file and is tailored to the extents of the current display when a subset is exported. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
