MapSend Lite FAQ
(frequently asked questions)
How do I open a map in MapSend Lite ?
If you have previous CD based Magellan mapping products (such as DiscoverAus
Streets and Tracks or Great Desert Tracks) these will be automatically loaded
into MapSend Lite when installed. Then go into (at top of window) GPS
Contents - Map Manager and in Detailed Maps, select the map you wish to view.
If you have an SD card based mapping product (such as DiscoverAus Topo) then
connect your eXplorist GPS and ensure it is in File Transfer - SD Card. Go into
GPS Contents - Map Manager and select Add Map (top left
button). A file explorer window will then appear. Your eXplorist will be a
Removable Disk so select it, then select the Detailed Maps folder and the map
that you wish to open. MapSend Lite will then copy it over to the PC for
viewing. You only need to add each map once as MapSend Lite will retain it. You
can also place your SD card into a card reader and do the same. An SD card
reader is faster loading maps.
I'm getting the message "Map initialization is required". What is the
problem?
Make sure the write protect slide switch on the side of the SD card is in
the unlock position. Most of the DiscoverAus Topo cards are shipped with
the slide switch in the lock position.
